What we do

One crew from the first screw to the last coat of paint

Palafox Construction hangs and finishes drywall, frames walls and paints, and that mix is the point. The people who tape your seams are the people who prime over them, so nobody blames the last trade for a joint that shows through. We frame partitions, soffits and basement walls, hang the board, run the tape and mud, texture or smooth the surface, then prep and paint. For homes in Fruita and across the Grand Valley, that means one walkthrough, one quote and one crew to call. Read more about drywall hanging and finishing or interior painting.

Built for the Grand Valley

Why walls crack and paint fades in this valley

Fruita sits at about 4,500 feet in a high desert that gets around 9 inches of rain a year. Homes here take a beating that a coastal paint chart never mentions, and we plan the work around it.

  1. 1

    Sun and thin air

Strong high-altitude sun chalks and fades paint fast on south and west walls, and dries out wood and caulk.

  2. 2

    Hot days, cold nights

Big day-to-night swings keep framing moving a little all year, which is how joints crack and nail pops show up.

  3. 3

    Shifting clay soil

Homes settle on the valley clay. Older ranches and fresh modular sets both telegraph that movement through the drywall.

Common questions

Drywall, paint and framing questions we hear

Straight answers before you call. Your own walls may differ, so the walkthrough settles the details.

What affects the cost of drywall or painting?

The size of the job, the condition of the surfaces, and the number of coats or finish level drive the price. Ceiling height, texture, repairs, masking and how many rooms are involved matter too. We look at the work in person during a walkthrough, then put the scope and price in writing so you can compare it clearly.

How long does drywall take to finish and dry in dry Colorado air?

A typical room takes several days from hanging to paint-ready, because every coat of mud has to dry before the next. Dry Grand Valley air usually helps, so coats often set faster than they would in a humid climate. Size, texture and the number of coats still set the real schedule, and we give you a window at the walkthrough.

Do you also paint after the drywall is finished?

Yes, we paint interiors and exteriors, and it is the natural next step after finishing. The crew that sanded the final coat of mud primes and paints the same surface, so seams, patches and corners get the prep they need. That keeps one crew accountable for the whole wall, from bare board to finished color.

What areas do you serve?

We are based in Fruita and work across the Grand Valley and the Western Slope: Fruita, Grand Junction, Clifton, Montrose, Delta County and Rifle. If your home sits near one of those and you are not sure it is in range, ask during your quote request and we will tell you plainly.

What should I have ready for the walkthrough?

Have the rooms clear enough to see the walls and ceilings, and know what you want done in each one. Photos, plans or paint colors you like help us quote accurately. Tell us about older patches, water stains or movement you have noticed, and whether the home is a ranch, a remodel or a new modular set.
